Fatal South Bay Car Fire Suspect Arrested
Martin Cabrera, 50 of San Jose, was arrested in connection with the city's 25th homicide of this year, police said.
SAN JOSÉ, CA — The suspect in a fatal South Bay car fire was arrested Sunday, San José police said.
Martin Cabrera, 50 of San Jose, was arrested in connection with the city’s 25th homicide of this year, police said.
Officers at around 6:15 a.m. Sunday responded to assist the San José Fire Department with a vehicle fire near Pomona and Barnard avenues, police said.

A San José Fire Department arson investigator assisted police with the probe that led to Cabrera’s arrest.
“During the investigation it was revealed that suspect Cabrera was responsible for setting the fire,” police said in a statement.

“The suspect was arrested the same day at a homeless encampment in San José and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for homicide.”
