SAN JOSE, CA — A former youth pastor is accused of sexually assaulting an underage girl on multiple occasions while working at a San Jose church, according to police.

In a news release Monday, officials said the city's Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC)/Child Exploitation Detail (CED) task force began investigating in January after receiving a report of a sexual assault that started in 2014.

According to police, the survivor told them the man sexually assaulted her several times between 2014 and 2018, while she was a minor and he was working as a youth pastor at River Church Community. Police said the man also volunteered at various afterschool programs.
