Highway 87 Crash Kills 1

One person was killed and another person was hospitalized with major injuries, the California Highway Patrol said.

SAN JOSE, CA — One person was killed and another seriously injured late Friday night in a South Bay crash, the California Highway Patrol said.

Officers responded to a 10:28 p.m. Friday report of the crash on northbound Highway 87 south of Curtner Avenue, CHP Officer Ross Lee said.

An Acura was traveling in the far-left lane when for unknown reasons it veered across all the lanes of traffic and overturned after colliding with edge of a guardrail before being struck by at least two other vehicles, Lee said.

An 18-year-old front passenger of the Acura was pronounced dead at the scene and a rear passenger was hospitalized with major injuries, Lee said.
