LETTER: Treasures 4 Teens Says 'Thank You'

Campbell Patch encourages the Campbell community to share its voice, opinion and thoughts through Letters to the Editor.

The was launched in 2010 to collect donations of new holiday gifts and books for teens, a group that is typically underserved in community toy programs.

As the co-founders of T4T, we would like to thank the Los Gatos community for their generosity again this year, which translated into hundreds of new books and holiday gifts for teens.

We served approximately 200 teens in 2010, but this year the program was able to brighten the holidays for more than 400 teens!

The need was doubly great this year but with the giving nature of our community, we were able to meet this need

Gifts were collected at Fisher Middle School, Los Gatos High School, Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce, Affordable Treasures, Los Gatos Roasting Company, Starbucks, Jamba Juice, and (in Campbell) through Dec. 16, and cash donations were used to purchase additional age appropriate gifts and books for the 11-18 year old age group.

Gifts were distributed this year to families registering with the or West Valley Community Services.

Heartfelt thanks to all of the teens and families who donated wonderful gifts, cash, and/or time to help make this happen. With the help of individual volunteers. businesses such as Whole Foods, the Sereno Group, Camp BizSmart, JJ Magoo’s, The Wooden Horse, Barnes & Noble and Drs. Hall and Burnett, as well as volunteer clubs such as the Kiwanis, Fisher Builder’s Club and Los Gatos High School Key Club and Interact Club, this was truly a community effort.

Whether you brought reusable bags to Whole Foods every week, liked us on Facebook, dined at JJ Magoo’s, donated cash when having your gifts wrapped or while at Farmer’s Market, donated gifts, or volunteered your time, so many found a way to make a difference.

Treasures 4 Teens is grateful to each of you who shared your holiday spirit and supported this program. Teens in our area really are treasured!
