New Athletic Director Named At San Jose State University
A new athletics director for San Jose State University was named Friday, university officials said.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA -- A new athletics director for San Jose State University was named Friday, university officials said.
Marie Tuite will take the helm following her service as interim director. Tuite will be the first woman to hold the job since university officials merged the men's and women's sports programs in 1987.
Tuite has held a leadership role at San Jose State University for the past seven years.

She's served as a leader on five other college campuses including the University of California at Berkeley and the University of Washington.
For five years she worked in the headquarters of the NCAA.

Former athletic director Gene Bleymaier stepped down in February after five years in the role and took on a role as a special advisor to university President Mary Papazian.
