SAN JOSE, CA — Investigators in San Jose are asking the public to be on the lookout for a man police believe sexually assaulted a girl while she was walking home from school last month.

In a news release Tuesday, police said the underage victim was walking north on South 11th Street on April 9 when a man riding a bicycle pulled her under the overpass and sexually assaulted her. Police said the girl fought him off, and he fled in a dark-colored bike.

Detectives with the Sexual Assault Investigations Unit identified the suspect as Julian Salvador Martinez, 50, described as a Hispanic man with a medium build. Investigators on Thursday released three photos of Martinez, with hopes someone will spot him. According to police, he is known to frequent "the jungle," near Keyes Street and Senter Road, and the area near East Williams Street and South 10th Street.
