POLL: Ban the Bag? What About the 'Foam?
Cities throughout Santa Clara County are banning plastic bags, studying the prospect or beginning to gauge their communities.

Everybody's talking about it: the ban on plastic bags, its effects and whether or not their city should be next.
San Jose did it. So did Sunnyvale. is the only city in the county with bans on both bags and styrofoam containers, with most recently aiming at being the next.
The Orchard City, along with the rest of the West Valley may be next.

The West Valley Solid Waste Management Agency is meeting on Thursday, Feb. 2 (agenda attached) to discuss whether or not the cities of Campbell, Los Gatos, Monte Sereno and Saratoga should ban the (plastic) bag and, possibly polystyrene food containers.
Earlier this month, the Cities Association of Santa Clara County voted 10-0 Thursday to encourage its 15 city and town councils to adopt policies banning the unsustainable food containers at all city facilities and events.

The association's decision is also meant to spur the region's cities to launch public education campaigns about the plastic material's harmful effect on local waterways and marine life.
