Robot Rescued From Thief By Human Co-Workers At Restaurant: Reports

Employees intervened to rescue the robot, according to reports.

SAN JOSE, CA — A robot server at a Bay Area pho restaurant was rescued from a thief by the eatery’s human employees, according to reports.

The incident occurred shortly before 8 a.m. on Jan. 19 at Pho 21 in the 2500 block of South King Road in San Jose, according to timestamped footage published by multiple media outlets.

A man asked to use the bathroom at the business and then grabbed the robot on his way out, according to KGO, which reported the machine is worth about $18,000.

Two workers confronted the man as he tried to load the robot into an SUV, pulling the machine out of his arms, according to NBC Bay Area, which said the man then drove off.

Police were notified of the incident, reports said.
