San Jose Sideshow: Police Car Window Shattered; 4 Cars Towed, Cops Say

BREAKING: According to police, the "racers" had blocked both lanes of Old Bayshore Highway and people were standing in the roadway.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — Four vehicles were impounded after a sideshow in north San Jose early Sunday morning that saw participants break a window of a San Jose police car, according to police. San Jose police said the vehicles were originally reported performing the sideshow in the area of Oakland Road and Fox Lane at 1:16 a.m. Sunday, but an officer responding to it encountered the vehicles at Old Bayshore Highway and the Interstate Highway 880 overpass.

According to police, the "racers" had blocked both lanes of Old Bayshore Highway and people were standing in the roadway as vehicles were doing donuts.

As the San Jose police officer attempted to drive through the area, the rear-window of the vehicle shattered and people kicked the vehicle as it drove by, according to police. Additional units responded along with
California Highway Patrol and the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office.

Police said numerous racers were eventually detained in the area of Ridder Park Drive and Brokaw Road, where the four vehicles were impounded and seven citations were issued. No officers were injured.
