Santa Clara County Firefighter Talks to Kids About Fire Safety

Ever wonder what to do in case of an emergency? Now throw kids into the mix. How do you explain to your children what to do if there's an earthquake? Fire? How about strangers?

Campbell Patch, in partnership with the Campbell Patch Mom Squad and the Campbell Library is holding monthly safety and emergency preparedness workshops aimed at parents with young children as part of the first "Safety First!" series.

Last month, Santa Clara County Fire Department Firefighter Jeff Brown wowed children and parents alike with his presentation on fires, smoke, firefighters and family escape plans.

This month, the American Red Cross will be talking about emergency preparedness in the event of a natural disaster, such as an earthquake, and what to have in your earthquake kit. The free workshop takes place Saturday, March 9 from 10:30-11:15 a.m. at the Campbell Library.

The free mini-series, dubbed "Safety First!" has included presentations by the Campbell Police Department and the Santa Clara County Fire Department. Each will be held on the second Saturday of the month, from 10:30-11:15 a.m. at the Campbell Library.

Activities for little ones will be provided.
