Santa Clara Sheriff's Employees Honored For Excellence

SAN JOSE, CA -- Two Santa Clara County Sheriff's deputies were honored as excellent employees at a ceremony staged this week.

Deputy Edward "Chris" Barrera is currently assigned as a detective to the Jail Crimes unit. He is recognized as someone who "regularly goes above and beyond his duties on a daily basis."

Deputy Courtney Bryan works in the Main Jail assigned to the training division. He has been called out for "his ability to defuse volatile situations is vital to maintaining a safe facility."

Sheriff Laurie Smith attended the event.
