SOLANO COUNTY, CA — Fairfield police arrested a San Jose man Tuesday on suspicion of possessing stolen checks and a firearm. Police responded around 10 a.m. Tuesday to a report of a person possibly trying to use a stolen credit card at a business in the 2700 block of North Texas Street, Sgt. Matt Bloesch said.
The suspect was gone when police arrived but clerks at the business gave a good description of the suspect and his vehicle. An officer saw the suspect about 30 minutes later in the 1000 block of Oliver Road and
detained 26-year-old Brandon Nichols of San Jose, Bloesch said.
Nichols was in possession of a loaded, stolen .38-caliber revolver and a key to a local motel where he was staying. Officers found several suspected stolen checks, cellphones, electronic equipment and a second
handgun in the room there, Bloesch said.
