SJFD Hiring Entry-Level 911 Dispatchers

The base salary for new trainees is more than $94,000, plus benefits that include tuition reimbursement and city retirement perks.

SAN JOSE, CA — The San Jose Fire Department is looking to add new 911 dispatchers to its communications division, and job seekers have about a month to send in their applications.

The department is hiring Public Safety Radio Dispatcher Trainees (PSRD-T), which is an entry-level position to get new hires on the path toward a career in public safety. Trainees will get in-house classroom training and hands-on practice at the Communications Center.

The base salary for trainees is $94,057, with differentials available based on shifts and bilingual status. Other benefits include tuition reimbursement, comprehensive health insurance, city retirement plans and a $500 uniform allowance.
