SAN JOSE, CA — The San Jose Fire Department is gearing up to host its "Women's+ Boot Camp," returning this month for the fifth year to provide a hands-on look at a career in firefighting.

The annual exercise invites women, non-binary and gender non-conforming people to participate in a 90-minute training workout at the San Jose Fire Department Training Center, followed by a Q&A session with active and retired female members of the fire department. The event is built to accommodate 785 adults, and officials said all the spots were claimed within just hours of opening the registration on April 18.
