SJSU Student Accused Of Setting Fires On Campus

Arson investigators allege a sophomore student set two recent fires at a library on the San Jose State University campus.

SAN JOSE, CA — A sophomore at San Jose State University is accused of setting two fires at the Martin Luther King Jr. Library on the school's campus, according to authorities.

An investigation by SJSU Police and Cal Fire determined the fires reported March 31 and April 8 were arson and shared surveillance images of a potential suspect earlier this week. Cal Fire officials announced an arrest and named a suspect in the case Friday.

"All personnel involved worked tirelessly to canvass the area, review security camera footage, cultivate leads, and ultimately identify the suspect," Cal Fire said. "The suspect was identified as SJSU sophomore student Amogh Upadhya."
