Standoff With Knife-wielding Man Ends With Arrest

The name, whose identity is undisclosed, violated a restraining order, according to San Jose police.

SAN JOSE, CA — San Jose police said they made an arrest Friday night following a standoff with a man who violated a restraining order.

As of 9:31 p.m. the suspect, whose name has not been released, was in custody. He was taken to a hospital for self-inflicted wounds. He was apparently armed with a knife, police said.

The situation unfolded shortly before police officers responded at 11:15 a.m. to the 200 block of King Road. Police received reports that a man with a restraining order against him entered the victim's home. The suspect was with a second man, unknown to the victim.

The residents left the home and called police, and the suspects remained inside the house. They did not comply with orders to exit the home, police said. Officers approached the home to enter it at about 2:30 p.m., but the suspect armed himself with a knife and closed the door. Police retreated and tried to negotiate with the suspect.

The second suspect emerged from the home at 4:33 p.m., but the original suspect stayed inside, according to police. Northbound and southbound lanes of King Road had been closed and
residents in the area evacuated. Those residents were allowed to return home earlier Friday.
