Adults with Developmental Disabilities Love Volunteering at the Carlsbad Senior Center
Some of their volunteering duties include setting up the lunch tables and cleaning up after.
Each week, Community Interface Services, a Carlsbad-based non-profit brings usually three volunteers with developmental disabilities to the Carlsbad Senior Center. They ride the bus to get to the center to volunteer. Their program coordinator told Carlsbad Patch it gives them a sense of purpose, and they love coming and interacting with the seniors.
TLC also brings about three volunteers with developmental disabilities to the center. Leslie with TLC told Carlsbad Patch she's been coming for five years, loves it, and is familiar with everyone at the senior center.
The different groups come twice a week and spend a few hours a day volunteering.
