Cafe Panini owner Gene Desanlis built Cafe Panini at 505 Oak Ave. #C in Carlsbad out of an auto shop garage with the help of contractors.
It opened on Saturday.
Cafe Panini serves sandwiches, salads, bakery items, juices, smoothies, coffee, craft beers, and wine. They also have alkaline water for all customers.
The outdoor patio is dog friendly with a fire pit and fountain. Desanlis hopes it becomes a place where locals hang out and listen to live music on the weekends.
