Carlsbad Police To Celebrate 'National Night Out' In August: What To Know

CARLSBAD, CA — The Carlsbad Police Department will participate in a variety of National Night Out events next week in the city.

Officers are slated to attend local events and visit with community members on Tuesday, Aug. 5 throughout the city, according to the department. Police will stop by between 5:30 and 9 p.m. Fire personnel will visit some gatherings as their schedule allows.

National Night Out events, held by law enforcement agencies across the country, aim to promote strong police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer, according to the annual community-building campaign.

The first National Night Out was held in the summer of 1984. More than 2.5 million community members across 23 states participated in the event.

Today, more than 38 million people across 17,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories and military bases celebrate National Night Out, with some law enforcement agencies hosting block parties, cookouts, festivals and parades as part of their events.
