According the U-T San Diego, "Kelli Moors, a former Carlsbad Unified School District board member who voted to award a $100,000 contract to a law firm she then went to work for will pay $4,000 to settle a state conflict-of-interest investigation." Moors approved the $100k contract a day after she agreed to work for the firm.
Moors resigned from the elected position in August to work at the education law firm Fagen Friedman & Fulfrost, added the U-T report which stated, she "agreed to the penalty late last year. The California Fair Political Practices Commission will consider the settlement at its meeting next week. If commissioners approve the deal, the case will be closed."
Moors issued a statement regretting her judgment call made while on the board. In the statement she seemed optimistic that both the district and firm could move on and leave it in the past.
