Free Hearing Tests in Carlsbad for National Audiology Awareness Month

It's National Audiology Awareness & Protect Your Hearing Month This October

Hearing loss is a major public health issue that is the third most common physical condition after arthritis and heart disease. Over 36 million Americans suffer from hearing loss.

October marks the 25th anniversary of National Audiology Awareness Month and National Protect Your Hearing Month. Hearing loss is an invisible condition; we cannot see hearing loss, only its effects. Because the presence of a hearing loss is not visible, these effects may be attributed to aloofness, confusion, or personality changes. Although most hearing loss is permanent, an expert can determine one’s hearing loss level and the best treatment, which may include hearing aids, assistive listening devices, and/or hearing rehabilitation. Most hearing loss is left untreated for longer than needed. Often vanity issues, expense concerns, and/or overall hearing loss denial postpone much needed treatments. Although hearing problems are commonly associated with the normal aging process, more than half of all hearing-impaired persons are younger than 65.

With the increased use of personal music players (MP3s) and earbuds, the number of Americans experiencing hearing loss at a younger age is growing. One in three developed their hearing loss as a result of exposure to noise. Anyone’s that’s attended a concert, sporting event, fireworks show, or used a lawnmower or custom car stereo at high volumes should get their hearing checked. In an effort to raise public awareness for the growing number of Americans suffering from hearing loss, Miracle Ear Encinitas, Carlsbad, and Escondido locations will host “Hearing Awareness Days” on Mondays in October.

Visit Miracle Ear Carlsbad at 2561 El Camino Real, Carlsbad, CA 92008 on Oct. 21st, and 28th for complimentary coffee, snacks, hearing tests, old/un-used hearing aid turn-in (all brands accepted) for discounts off new Miracle Ear products, and lots of hearing education.
