SAN MARCOS, CA — A man suspected of stealing thousands of dollars worth of trading cards from a vending machine was arrested outside his apartment in North County, authorities said Friday.

Weston Strawn was taken into custody Thursday while walking to his vehicle after detectives served a search warrant for his apartment and detached garage in the 400 block of Smilax Road in San Marcos, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.

During the search, detectives said they recovered several trading cards that were stolen from a vending machine in the 1200 block of West Mission Road in San Marcos, sheriff's Sgt. Agustin Rosas said.

"Strawn had targeted the vending machine on two separate occasions, and the thefts caused extensive damage to the machine," Rosas said. "During the service of the search warrant, detectives located stolen property from a separate theft case. Strawn was identified as the suspect in that case as well."

The stolen property was valued around $4,500, Rosas said.
