Man Beaten To Death Outside Carlsbad Library
A Carlsbad man was arrested and booked into the Vista Detention Facility on suspicion of murder, police said.

CARLSBAD, CA — A homicide investigation was underway Monday after a man was beaten to death over the weekend outside a Carlsbad library, authorities said.
Officers responded to a call at 2:17 a.m. Saturday of a man, later identified as 52-year-old Carlsbad resident Homero Duran, who was physically attacking others outside the Georgina Cole Library at 1250 Carlsbad Village Drive, according to the Carlsbad Police Department.
Police found an injured and unconscious man and attempted life-saving measures, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the department. The victim's identity was withheld pending family notification.

Officers searched the area and found Duran at 4:48 a.m. near Tyler Street and Walnut Avenue. He was detained without incident.
Duran was arrested and booked into the Vista Detention Facility on suspicion of murder, police said.

Police said that based on the initial investigation, this was an isolated incident, and there was no ongoing threat to the public.
