Motorcycle Hits Man Crossing El Camino Real
The unidentified man was killed as he tried to cross El Camino Real Saturday night near La Costa Avenue.

A pedestrian crossing El Camino Real north of La Costa Avenue was struck and killed by a motorcycle Saturday night, according to Carlsbad police.
Officers were called to the scene around 6:40 p.m. and found the badly injured man in the northbound lanes of El Camino Real. Carlsbad Fire Department paramedics also arrived and began life-saving efforts, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Carlsbad police.
The man’s name has not been released. The Medical Examiner’s Office has identified him as a 48-year-old, married resident of Carlsbad.

Authorities said the pedestrian was crossing El Camino Real illegally midblock when he was stuck by the motorcycle travelling northbound. The motorcyclist was able to maintain control and was not injured, according to police.
The Carlsbad police Traffic Division is investigating the collision.
