Natural Alternatives Buys Facility To Produce Powder Supplements
The company will open its second Carlsbad location, this one at 5928 Farnsworth Court, to expand its production of powder supplements.
CARLSBAD, CA — Carlsbad-based nutritional supplement company Natural Alternatives International (NAI) will soon open a high volume powder blending and packaging operation at a Carlsbad manufacturing and warehouse facility it recently purchased.
The facility is located at 5928 Farnsworth Court, according to a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission report. It is a 54,154 square foot industrial building that was built in 1991 and sits on a 3.15 acre lot, the building's listing on Property Shark says.
NAI, which also has a location at 1535 Faraday Ave., Carlsbad, purchased the facility for $17.5 million, financed through a $10 million loan from Wells Fargo and $7.5 million of available cash, the company said in a news release. The transaction closed on Friday.

The company will retrofit the facility and use it to increase its production of powder supplements, which NAI chairman and CEO Mark A. Le Doux called "a growing segment" within the dietary supplement industry that the company has previously "only marginally participated in."
"We are excited to expand our USA manufacturing capabilities and footprint," Le Doux said. "While this new facility will not fully come on line for us until late in the current fiscal year, we believe this is an important investment that provides us with additional environmentally conditioned raw material storage space to accommodate our current and future anticipated sales demand."
