Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Vehicle In Carlsbad

CARLSBAD, CA — A pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle in Carlsbad, authorities said.

The crash happened shortly before 5 a.m. Wednesday in the 6600 block of Carlsbad Boulevard, according to the Carlsbad Police Department.

A vehicle traveling northbound on Carlsbad Boulevard, just north of Island Way, struck a pedestrian who was standing in the roadway. The driver stopped, rendered aid and called 911, police said.

The person was taken to a hospital, where the victim died, police said. Their identity has not yet been confirmed.

The collision remains under investigation. Alcohol or drugs were not believed to be factors in the crash.

Authorities asked anyone with information about the crash to call the department.
