SAN MARCOS, CA — A person was found dead inside an apartment in northern San Diego County, authorities said.

Deputies responded to a call of a person found dead inside an apartment at 3:05 p.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of Amorlite Drive in San Marcos, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.

"Upon arrival, deputies located the deceased person inside with no obvious signs of trauma," sheriff's Lt. Juan Marquez said. "Due to the suspicious nature of the incident, the sheriff's Homicide Unit responded to the scene and took over the investigation."

The death remained under investigation. The cause and manner of the person's death will be determined by the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.
