Police Arrest Man After Fatal Carlsbad Collision
The suspect was arrested in connection with a two-vehicle collision that killed the other driver.

CARLSBAD, CA — Carlsbad police arrested a 33-year-old man Saturday in connection with a two-vehicle collision that killed the other driver.
At 5:20 a.m. Saturday, officers were sent to the intersection of La Costa Avenue and Piraeus Street in response a traffic collision, the Carlsbad Police Department stated in a news release.
Police said that a Subaru crossover collided with a Nissan pickup truck. "The driver and sole occupant of the Nissan was transported from the scene and later pronounced deceased at a local hospital."

Police arrested the Subaru driver, 33-year-old Philip Webb of Oceanside, on suspicion of driving under the influence, "causing injury or death and vehicular manslaughter," officials said.
According to the CPD, Webb will be booked into the county jail in Vista.

Authorities withheld the victim's identity, pending family notification of next of kin. A description of the person was not made available.
Police said that alcohol "is suspected to be a contributing factor" in the cause of the collision, which remains under investigation.
