Triple-Stabbing Suspect Jailed On Multiple Charges: Police

CARLSBAD, CA — A man suspected of stabbing three people earlier this summer in Carlsbad was arrested on multiple charges, police announced Wednesday.

Officers came across multiple people in a physical altercation around 12:15 a.m. June 19 in the 300 block of Grand Avenue, according to Carlsbad Police Department. Police said the altercation began on the train platform at 2775 State St. and escalated into a violent confrontation.

Three men were stabbed during the fight, according to police. One victim suffered a stab wound to the abdomen, another was stabbed in the back, and the third suffered multiple stab wounds to his torso and head. All three were taken to hospitals for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Following an investigation, detectives identified the suspect as 26-year-old Vista resident Cesar Cervantes, police said.

Detectives served an arrest and search warrant July 3 at his home. He was taken into custody without incident and booked into the South Bay Detention Facility on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, mayhem and participation in a criminal street gang.
