“Our goal is to bring the world of professional dance out of the television studio and professional competition and make it available to anyone who has ever dreamed of taking the first steps toward learning this healthy and fun sport at a new studio where past, present and future champions train,” said Melissa Dexter, three-time U.S. ballroom champion and co-owner of the new Dancessence studio.
“We want to make ballroom dance available to everyone, from students to seniors,” Dexter added. “This sport is a healthy outlet for anyone who wants to take part in an exercise that improves stamina, reduces stress and builds muscle tone while improving energy, coordination and flexibility in an atmosphere that opens the door to new friendships.”
Dexter and her husband, multiple international ballroom dance champion Giacomo Steccaglia, have assembled a cast of instructors who have professional dance credentials from around the world. Among the instructors are their protégés, Sasha Kondrashov and Nikolai Tarasov, who are considered among the finest ballroom dancers in the world and who consider the new Dancessence complex their “home studio”. They will represent the U.S. at the World Dance Championships in Israel this fall.
