Castro Valley Library Announces Return Of Food Donation Barrels

The library is collecting donations of nonperishable food items such as pasta, macaroni and cheese, peanut butter, tuna, chili and more.

CASTRO VALLEY, CA — The Castro Valley Library, in conjunction with the Alameda County Community Food Bank, has announced the return of food bank barrels to the library.

Library patrons and others wishing to donate food to those in need can now do so at the library, 600 Norbridge Avenue,officials announced on the Castro Valley Library’s Facebook page.

“We are so pleased to have our Food Bank barrels back,” the Facebook post said, adding that before donating to check the expiration dates on any sealed foods.

The library is requesting donations of all nonperishable food items such as pasta, macaroni and cheese, peanut butter, tuna, chili and soup.

Those wishing to help the Alameda County Community Food Bank can do so by hosting a food drive with their families, friends, sports teams, scouting groups and classmates.

The Castro Valley Library is open Mondays and Tuesdays from noon to 8 p.m., Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m. and closed Fridays.
