Coroner Identifies Man Killed in Cherryland House Fire Last Month

Bay City News — has been identified by the coroner's bureau as 32-year-old Ryan Casias.

Alameda County firefighters received a report of a structure fire in the 21800 block of Princeton Street, near Hayward, at 7:50 a.m., Alameda County Fire Department spokeswoman Aisha Knowles said.

When fire crews arrived minutes later, they saw thick smoke pouring from the windows of a second-story apartment.

Knowles said 24 Alameda County firefighters contained the one-alarm within 15 minutes.

While fighting the fire, firefighters discovered Casias' body in a bedroom. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Knowles said.

Alameda County fire investigators and the Alameda County Sheriff's Office are investigating the cause of the blaze.
