CSU-East Bay Reopens Thursday

A campus-wide power outage caused by the storm forced the closure of campus.

HAYWARD, CA — Following three straight days of closures due to a power outage, CSU-East Bay reopened on Thursday. All classes will be held at all campuses.

"We are happy to announce that our dedicated facilities team, in collaboration with PG&E and other contracted experts, has successfully restored power to 18 out of 19 buildings on campus," the university announced Wednesday. "As a result, all in-person classes will resume in person starting tomorrow, Feb. 8, 2024. In addition, all network functions have been fully restored."

The only building that remains offline is the Student Services & Administration Building. Admissions, Registrar, Financial Aid, Cashiers, the Career Development Center, and Academic Advisors are all housed in that building.

"We would like to express our gratitude to our ITS Department, Facilities, University Police and Student Housing for their tireless dedication in ensuring the safety of our campus and facilitating the smooth operation of our activities around the clock."

According to the university, Sunday's storm damaged a main electrical feeder, resulting in the campus-wide power outage.
