CVSan's Recycles Day And Compost Giveaway Coming In April
Appointments are required to participate, organizers say.
CASTRO VALLEY, CA — The Castro Valley Sanitary District will hold its next Recycles Day and Compost Giveaway in April, but only those who register in advance will be able to participate CVSan said.
"Drop-ins will not be allowed access into the event," CVSan said in a news release announcing the event which is held every spring and summer.
CVSan residents and businesses are invited to drop off items that are not typically accepted in their regular curbside recycling, organics and garbage services including textiles, documents for shredding, and e-waste at Canyon Middle School.

Items dropped off at the event which will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 22 will be properly reused, recycled or disposed.
Canyon Middle School is located at 19600 Cull Canyon Road.

Participants can also receive three 1-cubic foot bags of compost at no additional charge, CVSan said.
Those wishing to register for an appointment to participate can do so between March 27 and April 11 by visiting the CVSan website, which also has complete instructions and safety requirements, here.
Once resident's and business' registration have been verified, they will be mailed a paper event ticket to the address listed in their registration. Tickets will be mailed after April 3rd.
COVID Safety Requirements, which are available online, will be in place during the event, CVSan said.
Items that will not be accepted at the event include: ammunition, asbestos, batteries, compressed gases, explosives, electric blankets, large appliances, light up clothing and shoes, manuals and packaging, PCB light ballasts, propane, radioactive materials, smoke detectors and thermostats.
