Driver in Critical Condition After Hitting Bicyclist and Crashing into Parked Cars on San Miguel Avenue
The driver was transported to Eden Medical Center with major injuries.

A 67-year-old driver from Hayward crashed into two parked cars along San Miguel Avenue after hitting a bicyclist on Castro Valley Boulevard this afternoon.
Michael Phelps, 16, of Hayward said he was riding his bike with a few friends when he was "knocked off fully to the ground" around 3 p.m. by Theophilus Jackson who was driving nearby . Phelps did not report any injuries.

"When he hit me, he was shocked," Phelps said. "He saw my emotions but didn't want to stop and kept going."
Phelps' friends rode after the driver of the silver Honda Accord, who headed down to San Miguel Avenue. He drove through a front yard fence and hit two parked vehicles before crashing into a bush near Norbridge Avenue.

"He suffered major injuries and was taken to " said CHP Public Information Officer Daniel Jacowitz.
Jacowitz said the speed Jackson was traveling is unknown. He said that according to a preliminary report from the hospital, Jackson "may have suffered cardiac arrest" but it is unknown whether it was after hitting Phelps or after crashing his car.
As of Thursday, Jacowitz said Jackson is in critical condition.
Dustin Hoefer lives across the street from where the car accident occurred. He said he was inside his home when he heard the crash and rushed out to find the driver unconscious.
"He was still in the car revving the gas, but his eyes were rolled back," he said.
