UPDATED: Firefighters Respond To Castro Valley Structure Fire

Residents and commuters were asked to avoid the 2000 block of Sidney Way in Castro Valley, officials said.

CASTRO VALLEY, CA — Alameda County Firefighters made quick work of a house fire in the 2000 block of Sidney Way in Castro Valley today.

Originally reported just after 11 a.m. the fire at the home was visible to firefighters when they arrived on the scene. The fire, Alameda County Fire said, extended into the attic.

The 20 firefighters extinguished the fire in under 30 minutes with no injuries to the community or firefighters, the agency said in a tweet.

CASTRO VALLEY, CA — Alameda County Firefighters are currently on the scene of a structure fire in the 2000 block of Sidney Way in Castro Valley, according to a tweet by Alameda County Fire.

"Engine 26 is taking command and reporting smoke and fire upon arrival," the agency said in the tweet, adding that firefighters were battling the blaze which was first reported at 11:01 a.m.

Residents and commuters were asked to avoid the area.
