One Person Killed in Cherryland House Fire
Investigators are working to confirm the victim's identity and cause of death along with the cause of the fire.

Bay City News Group — Firefighters battling an apartment fire in Alameda County's Cherryland neighborhood this morning found a person dead inside the home, a fire department spokeswoman said.
Alameda County firefighters received a report of a structure fire in the 21800 block of Princeton Street, near Hayward, at 7:50 a.m., Alameda County Fire Department spokeswoman Aisha Knowles said.
When fire crews arrived minutes later, they saw thick smoke pouring from the windows of a second-story apartment.

Twenty-four Alameda County firefighters contained the one-alarm within 15 minutes, Knowles said.
While fighting the fire, firefighters discovered a body in a
bedroom. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, Knowles said.

Authorities have not released the gender, age, or name of the deceased person. The Alameda County coroner's bureau is working to confirm the victim's identity and cause of death, Knowles said.
Alameda County fire investigators and the Alameda County Sheriff's Office are investigating the cause of the blaze.
