School District Appoints Multilingual Services Director

CASTRO VALLEY, CA — Castro Valley Unified School District has named Doris De La Torre Multilingual Services Director.

De La Torre is currently the Principal at Vannoy Elementary School, a position that she has held since 2018.

She also launched the District’s Dual Language Immersion Program, which serves TK through 1st grade.

De La Torre started her career in Castro Valley as a second grade teacher at Castro Valley Elementary where she served as an English Learner Site Coach and later as a Response to Intervention Specialist until 2014, before moving on to Assistant Principal at Canyon Middle School until 2018.

“We are extremely fortunate to have Ms. De La Torre leading our school district's multilingual services," said Superintendent Parvin Ahmadi. "Her expertise and experience coupled with her passion will greatly benefit our students.”

De La Torre was raised in Castro Valley and attended Proctor Elementary, Canyon Middle School, and Castro Valley High School before earning her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees and teaching and administrative credentials from Cal State East Bay.
