Courtney Strysko, who turns 19 this week, has opened her second business, Move Over Princess, dedicated to selling young women's prom and formal wear. Based at 3807 East Castro Valley Blvd. in the 580 Shopping Center, the dress shop is her second entrepreneurial effort. She previously ran a t-shirt business from home. In this Patch video the young entrepreneur talks about her concept.

Dampa Filipino Food Told 'Banner Must Go'
When the Castro Valley Central Business District plan was written two decades ago, who'd have imagined that its rules governing signs would create difficulties for local businesses. But maybe it's time those rules were revisited as Dampa Filipino Food becomes the second business is the last few weeks to run afoul of the sign restrictions on Castro Valley Boulevard. For about a year the restaurant had used a banner to attract customers to its somewhat hidden location behind the Chevron station. Maria Calalo, who runs Dampa with her husband Chef Sunthie, told Patch that their landlord recently informed them that the county wanted the banner to come down.

Sprouts & Shutters: The Game Alley to Close; Ruffles and Rust Vintage Now Open
Our latest roundup of business news includes the closure of The Game Alley on Redwood Road in Castro Valley. The store announced it would be closing its doors by the end of the month and selling off its entire inventory. In happier business news, Ruffles and Rust Vintage at 2568 San Carlos Ave. The shop specializes in selling rescued and refurbished antique furniture and decor.
