BBQ Fire 'Flash Burns' Man in Westwood

The man was hospitalized in serious condition.

A man suffered serious "flash" burns today in a barbecue fire at a house in the Westwood area, authorities said.

Paramedics sent to the 700 block of South Malcolm Ave. at 8:17 a.m. took the man to a hospital in serious condition, said Katherine Main of the Los Angeles Fire Department. The fire was quickly extinguished and did not damage the house.
