A fire in an apartment in Cerritos tonight slightly injured two people, including a firefighter. The fire at 18943 Vickie Ave. was reported at 10:36 p.m. and was knocked down by 11 p.m., said Ed Pickett, supervising dispatcher with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. One civilian and a firefighter were taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries, Pickett said. News photographers at the scene said they both suffered from smoke inhalation. An unknown number of residents were displaced and the American Red Cross was summoned to help them find temporary housing, Pickett said. --City News Service
