Cerritos College to Host Coaches vs. Cancer Basketball Fundraiser at Gahr High

Two college basketball games to help raise awareness and funds for the fight against cancer will be held on Saturday, Feb. 4 at Gahr High School.

Cerritos College Athletics and the California Community College Men's and Women's Basketball Coaches Association are teaming up to support Coaches vs. Cancer with a night of fundraising and awareness this weekend at  in Cerritos.

On Saturday, Feb. 4, the Falcon men's and women's basketball teams will host Long Beach City College in South Coast Conference games as part of this worthy cause.

Admission for the game is free, but as part of the fundraising effort, everyone who makes a minimum $5 donation will be given a raffle ticket. At halftime of both the women's game (5 p.m.) and men's game (7 p.m.), a ticket will be drawn and the recipient will get a chance to win a gift certificate if they can drain a free throw. If they miss the free throw, another ticket will be drawn.

Upon entering the gym, attendees can also drop by a "Wall of Remembrance" where they can write a message or a name of someone they know who is a cancer survivor.

The college also hopes to raise money with a snack bar, in which all proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society.
