Cerritos High Student Becomes Semifinalist in National Scholarship Program

Don Macfoy, a student at Cerritos High, is one of 10 Southern California students eligible to compete for a national scholarship for black students.

A student is one of 10 local high school seniors named as semifinalists in the 48th annual National Scholarship Program -- a national scholarship program for black students that is part of the National Merit Scholarship Corp.

Don Macfoy of Cerritos High is now eligible to move up to the Finalists' round, where he can compete for one of 700 scholarships worth $2,500.

  • Sabina T. Spigner of Laguna Hills High School;
  • Nicholas S. Ashley, Francis M. Mburu, Karli N. Thompson and Monica A. Ukah of Trabuco Hills High School in Mission Viejo and;
  • Ndubuisi W. Anusiem and Biola E. Macaulay of Valencia High School in Placentia.
