Explosions Rock Boston Marathon; Status of Cerritos Runner Unknown

One runner from Cerritos was participating in today's Boston Marathon, which was rocked by explosions near the race's finish line. (Scroll below the Storify post to see name of Cerritos runner.)

Two people are dead and many more are injured as the result of a pair of explosions near the finish line of Monday's Boston Marathon, according to the Boston Police Department. 

According to the race's website, Erick Ramirez, 20 of Cerritos, was participating in the race. His status is not yet known. 

It’s not clear yet what happened or led to the explosions, or who was injured.

More than 20,000 officially runners officially entered this year's race. 

It's likely that others from the city travelled out there to give the runner support. Patch will continue to report this story as it develops and bring news about our local runners as we hear more.

There is no confirmation about what may have caused the explosion.
