Watch: Deputies Save Drowning Toddler From Park Lake
Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies pulled a toddler from a city park and performed chest compressions to save the child.

CERRITOS, CA — New footage posted by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Thursday shows the moment deputies rescued a drowning toddler from a park lake in Cerritos.
The video shows LASD deputies arriving at Don Knabe Regional Park around 8 p.m. on March 29 after getting a call about a toddler who had fallen into the lake.
The deputies can be seen running to the lake, pulling out the unresponsive 3-year-old, and performing chest compressions until paramedics arrived.

The toddler was rushed to a local hospital as a safety precaution and was later released in good health, according to authorities.

On Thursday morning, the five deputies and dispatcher involved in the toddler's rescue were honored for their efforts with a ceremony at the Cerritos City Council chamber.

Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn commended the first responders' efforts in a news statement, saying: "We have the best responders in the nation."
"That evening, our Cerritos sheriff's station received what must be one of the worst calls imaginable," Hahn said. "But their training and commitment to the safety of our public never faltered."
