• Two more red light cameras to begin issuing citations Friday (chicoer.com) — New red light cameras at The Esplanade and East Avenue in Chico start issuing tickets this Friday, with four more intersections following in early January. The city is still in a warning phase at several locations, but drivers should prepare now to stop on red at these busy Chico corridors. A separate item briefly notes recent juvenile robbery arrests in Oroville.
   

• December national gas prices cheapest since end of 2020, AAA says (krcrtv.com) — Chico drivers are paying about $4.05 per gallon for regular gas, slightly less than last year but still well above the national average. AAA suggests Chico travelers heading to the Bay Area save money by filling up in Sacramento or Fairfield and offers safety tips for busy holiday road trips.
   

• Chico man sentenced for hate crime against local reporter, vandalizing camera (krcrtv.com) — A Chico man has been sentenced in Butte County Superior Court for a hate-motivated incident in which a local TV reporter’s camera was vandalized outside the Chico Elks Lodge. He received formal probation, anger management, community service, restitution, and county jail time with credit for days already served. Prosecutors emphasized that hate crimes will be actively prosecuted in Butte County.
