• Big Chico Creek Ecological Reserve receives $1.3M for wildfire prevention project (krcrtv.com) — The Chico State Big Chico Creek Ecological Reserve has secured $1.3 million to build critical fuel breaks between Cohasset and Forest Ranch after the Park Fire, directly strengthening wildfire defenses for the Chico area. Work is expected to start in late spring 2026, with Cal Fire and the Mechoopda Tribe partnering on long-term prescribed burns to create a more resilient landscape.
