1. The SNC Board approves wildfire and forest resilience grants to help protect communities (ca.gov) — A new $1.3 million state grant will fund 6.5 miles of fuel breaks in Big Chico Creek Canyon to help shield Chico, Cohasset, and Forest Ranch from future wildfires. The funding is part of nearly $4.6 million in Sierra Nevada Conservancy grants, backed by Proposition 4, aimed at boosting wildfire and forest resilience in Butte, Mono, and Madera counties.
   

2. Chico State and local agriculture support community during lapse in SNAP benefits (theorion.com) — Chico State’s Hungry Wildcat Food Pantry and Chico’s Certified Farmers Market teamed up to keep students and low-income residents fed during the recent SNAP benefits lapse. Local growers, food banks, and community donors helped provide discounted produce, EBT-funded “market bucks,” and emergency aid as pantry usage surged by up to 25% and hundreds more students sought food assistance.
   

3. Chico man arrested for stalking, robbing ex-girlfriend's home; GPS device found on her car (krcrtv.com) — Chico police arrested a local man after an investigation into a south Chico home burglary led officers to suspect ongoing stalking and the secret placement of a GPS tracker on an ex-girlfriend’s car. Detectives say they recovered stolen property and evidence of further plans, and note that additional charges may follow as the investigation continues.
   

4. All Northern Section volleyball teams announced (chicoer.com) — Chico and Pleasant Valley volleyball standouts earned major recognition on the All Northern Section teams, with PV’s Natalie Wulferdingen making First Team and Chico High’s Kaycee Konopka landing on the Second Team. Several nearby schools, including Durham, Orland and Gridley, were also represented, underscoring a strong year for north state volleyball centered around matches played in Chico.
   

5. Workshops discuss antisemitism on college campuses (chicoer.com) — Chico State recently wrapped up its Diversity Certificate Program with a workshop on recognizing and responding to antisemitism on campus and in the wider Chico community. Led by alumna and Holocaust scholar Katie Posey, the three-part series drew dozens of in-person and online participants and emphasized listening across differences, learning about Jewish life, and building healthier conversations at the university and beyond.
