• Butte Environmental Council donation (orovillemr.com) — A long-time Chico nonprofit, The Discovery Shoppe on Flume Street, has donated $5,198 to Butte Environmental Council to expand its community composting program supporting California’s food-waste reduction law. Run entirely by volunteers, the shop will share more than $165,000 with 16 local charities this year and invites residents to submit people-focused community photos for its Monday “Snapshots” feature.
