Police Blotter: Student found with dried blood, and no memory (theorion.com) — Recent University Police crime logs detail several concerning incidents involving Chico students, including a welfare check where Chico Police reported a student in campus housing intentionally taking antidepressants and being placed on a 5150 hold and taken to Enloe. Another case involved a student found intoxicated, covered in dried blood with no clear source, plus a reported threat referencing Israel and a public figure.

2. The SNC Board approves wildfire and forest resilience grants to help protect communities (ca.gov) — A new $1.3 million state grant to Chico State Enterprises will build 6.5 miles of fuel breaks in Big Chico Creek Canyon to help shield Chico, Cohasset, and Forest Ranch from future wildfires. The funding is part of nearly $4.6 million in Sierra Nevada Conservancy grants aimed at reducing fuels and strengthening forest resilience across Butte, Mono, and Madera counties.
   

3. Bidwell Mansion remembered on anniversary of fire (chicoer.com) — Chico residents gathered this week at the Bidwell Mansion Museum to mark one year since the devastating fire and to honor first responders, even as the mansion’s future remains undecided. State Parks leaders say community input will shape what comes next, from possible virtual reality experiences to new park designs, once engineering studies are complete.
   

4. Chico man sentenced to life for shooting father after argument over chores (krcrtv.com) — A Chico man has received a life sentence in Butte County for fatally shooting his father after an argument over chores at their property. Prosecutors say he admitted using a shotgun and firing multiple times while on parole, leading the judge to impose the maximum penalty allowed by law.
